My dad is an alumnus of ETBU and was the reason for my first interaction with the college. However, as my senior year was winding down, there were just more and more signs placed in front of me that ETBU was the next step to take.
Dr. Holloway, Dr. Bryant, Dr. Oliver, and Dr. Franklin all left lasting impacts. From offering different perspectives on things I had thought for most of my life to presenting course material that was as interesting as it was challenging, or simply offering an encouraging word at a time when I was struggling (whether they knew it or not). Those moments may have had a greater impact than any quiz answer or grade on a paper.
My core of lifelong friends began to take shape when I attended ETBU. Specifically, a small group of friends who took me for who I was and also challenged me to continue to strive for the best that I could for myself. Thankfully, those friendships are still going strong today.
The Hill was not my first choice for college, but it's a testament to how God can change things for the better if you trust Him. Looking back now, this was very clearly the place I needed to be at that time in my life.
ETBU showed me that the relationships we forge in this life are far more important than what we do for a paycheck. I changed my major several times and have tried many different career paths since leaving ETBU, but one thing that has never changed has been the encouragement from the friends I made on the Hill and the times we continue to spend together now that we've all left ETX.
