Ms. Christi Siler (’05) completed her Bachelor's degree in Education while specializing in English, Language Arts, and Reading during her time on the Hill. Christi is currently a first-grade teacher and high school cheer coach in Harleton, and has been encouraging younger generations for the past 21 years. She is also the proud parent of her two wonderful children, Cami and Joel.
“I first came to ETBU because I wanted to attend a smaller school that held Christian values and that was close to home, as well as continue my cheerleading career.”
Reflecting on those years, I have so many memories with my roommates, teammates, and friends. I am glad that I attended a Christian university that had some extra rules to keep me in line, as well as prepare me for my career path.
I made many lifelong friendships at ETBU, and I have been able to stay in touch with many of my teammates from the cheer and basketball teams throughout the years. I have had the privilege of teaching 4 children of people that I went to ETBU with, as well as coaching one on my high school cheer team. I keep track of all of those students and their parents.
I would not be where I am in my teaching career without the education that I received at ETBU. Most importantly, I had great professors, coaches, and mentors who showed me how to carry myself and lead well. One of those, Dr. Donna Lubcker, taught me so many things that I still use in my teaching career today. She made learning fun and meaningful. Her class was one of the hardest education classes I had, but it was by far my favorite.
To the current and future Tigers, do not take your education for granted. The values that will be instilled here are unmatched. Ask questions, seek answers, travel, and stay steadfast in your faith. Enjoy your life and always keep God first. You are never too far gone to come back home.
