Ms. Denedra Taylor (‘20) earned her bachelor's degree in psychology while here on the Hill and would later go on to earn a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nelson University (formerly Southwestern Assemblies of God University). Currently, Denedra has been called to serve as an educator and sports coach while pursuing further post-graduate licensure as a mental health therapist.
From the moment I toured the Hill, I felt an immediate connection, as if I were meant to be there.
Some of my favorite memories include the guidance and influence of Dr. Obi, Dr. Reeves, Professor Alonzo, Dr. L. Smith, Dr. Hillman, Dr. Mobley, and Coach Arbogast.
My connection with fellow alumni extends beyond friendship—I have built lifelong relationships and consider many of them family. Several alumni remain a significant part of my life, and I stay in contact with them daily.
When I think about the Hill, I am reminded of the positive experiences and lifelong memories that shaped my early adulthood. It was a pivotal part of my journey, and I wouldn’t have wanted to spend my time anywhere else.
As I entered my graduate program, I felt well-prepared for the coursework, thanks to the strong foundation provided by my professors. Additionally, the volunteer opportunities I engaged in during my time at the Hill gave me valuable experience working with children. This experience ultimately prepared me for my roles as an educator and coach and later led me to work with adolescents during my counseling internship.
