Financial Aid

Step One: File Applications
  1. Complete the Application for Admission and Financial Aid. You must complete the application, be accepted to the University and have submitted a FAFSA before the Financial Aid Office can assess your eligibility for financial aid.  Note - if you do not want to be considered for Federal, State or ETBU need based aid then submit the Refusal to File FAFSA form and we can proceed with awarding your Merit based aid.
  2. File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). ETBU Academic definition for financial aid is Fall, Spring and Trailing Summer.

    • Which FAFSA should I submit?
      • 2024-25 FAFSA - If you are planning on attending any terms that fall within the August 15, 2024 - August 12, 2025 dates.
      • 2023-24 FAFSA - If you are planning on attending any terms that fall within the August 15, 2023 - August 12, 2024 dates.
    • ETBU's FAFSA school code is 003564.
  3. Proceed to Step 2 for accepting and securing your awarded financial aid once you receive your email from the TigerMail account notifying you that your financial aid is ready.

Texas residents who are NOT:

  • a U.S. Citizen
  • a permanent U.S. resident with an Alien Registration Card (I-551)
  • a conditional permanent U.S. resident with visa type I-551C
  • an eligible non-citizen with an Arrival/Departure Record (I-94)

will not be eligible to file the FAFSA, but should complete the TASFA Application and the Core Residency Questionnaire to be considered for State financial aid. Male applicants also must register for Selective Service. For more information on TASFA click here.

Step Two: Accept or Decline Aid
  1. Once you have received an award letter by mail and/or an email to the TigerMail account notifying you that your financial aid is ready, log in to Tiger Connect using your email credentials.
     
  2. Accept or decline your direct loans by checking the appropriate box and clicking the submit button.  You have now notified the University of your intent to use this aid.
     
  3. If you accepted your federal direct loans you must continue to Step 3 to notify the U.S. Department of Education of your intent to borrow.
Step Three: Secure Loans

New Student Borrowers 

  1. Sign in to studentaid.gov using your FSA ID to complete your aid process.  
  2. Complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN).
  3. Complete Entrance Counseling.

The ETBU Financial Aid Office adopts the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrator's Code of Conduct for institutional financial aid professionals.
