B.S. in Clinical Laboratory Science (MLT to MLS)

Are you a clinical/medical laboratory technician (MLT) who is interested in obtaining a bachelor’s degree to increase your salary and for promotion purposes?  Are you a graduate from an associate's degree program in medical laboratory science who wants to complete your B.S. degree but you want to do it in a completely online format? Are you a graduate from an associate's degree program who has not taken or passed the national certification for MLT?  If so, this program is for you! This program will prepare you to take your national registry as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.

In 2016 the average salary for an MLT was $38,950 per year according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.  The average national rate for medical/clinical laboratory scientists (MLS) is $61,070.  Within slightly more than one year the difference in salary will pay for the tuition for your educational program.  In addition, some areas will only hire laboratory staff with a bachelor's degree. Almost 70% of current medical laboratory scientists are age 46 or older so there will be a large number of openings in the future.

  • Students receive a Lifelong Learning Grant equal to 1/3 the amount of tuition
  • Financial aid is available
  • Clinical laboratory courses are 100% online
  • Experience a Christ-centered learning environment
  • You do NOT have to have national certification as an MLT to complete this program
  • Includes a certification preparation course to help you be successful on your national registry
  • Only online MLT to MLS program in the state of Texas

National Certification

Graduates of the program are eligible to take the Medical Laboratory Scientist certification through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or similar certification exams through other agencies.
