Life on the Hill

Baptist Student Ministry

Welcome to the BSM!

The ETBU Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) is where you can connect with other students and grow in your walk with God. Each week we offer an on-campus worship service, small groups, and opportunities for Christian service in the Marshall community. Additionally, we also provide a number of retreats, conferences, and mission trips throughout the year. Find out more below!

BSM Ministries

Ignite

Join us each Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. in the Lampsato Chapel (located on the 2nd floor of the Ornelas Student Center) for worship, Bible teaching, and Christian fellowship. To learn more, contact David Griffin at dgriffin@etbu.edu.

Small Groups

One of the best ways to connect to the BSM is through a BSM Small Group. Our groups provide a place for you to belong, a place to grow in your faith, and a place to serve. If you would like to learn more about the groups that are meeting this semester, email David Griffin at dgriffin@etbu.edu.

Prayer Ministry

Does meeting with a group of students for the sole purpose of joining together in prayer appeal to you? If so, then connect to our prayer ministry, where students meet each week for that purpose.

Campus Outreach

Do you have a burden to reach the campus for Christ? If so, then you ought to consider joining our campus outreach ministry, as they meet and seek to engage the campus for this very purpose.

Fall Retreat

Each fall, the BSM hosts a weekend away to build fellowship and help devote ourselves to the Lord. We will enjoy Bible study, worship, hiking, fishing, canoeing, and more! This year's the retreat will be held on September 9-10. Email dgriffin@etbu.edu for more information.

BSM Missions

Kid's Club

Each week, students from ETBU go and serve children from an area government assisted housing complex. The team serves through leading the kids in games, crafts, snacks, and Bible stories.

Beach Reach

Each Spring Break, the ETBU BSM joins other BSMs from across the state to serve Spring Breakers at South Padre Island. While on the island, we serve free pancakes and give free van rides to the Spring Breakers to show them the love of Jesus, and often we have the opportunity to share the gospel with them. Each year, many Spring Breakers accept Jesus through Beach Reach. Informational meetings will be held in November and January - keep an eye on your email for more information.

Serve Days

Each semester, the BSM will host a Saturday "Serve Day" where ETBU students will engage the community by serving in various ways at community ministries and through general community service. The purpose is to show God's endless and eternal love to our own community. Keep an eye on your ETBU email for more information.

Go Now Missions

As a ministry of the Texas Baptists our students are able to engage in missions through Go Now Missions - our vary own collegiate mission board. You will have the opportunity to serve down the street or around the globe for just a few days or an entire summer. Contact David Griffin for more information (dgriffin@etbu.edu) or go to www.gonowmissions.com.

Disciple Now Weekends

Join BSM students from across ETBU, as we engage area youth groups by leading D-Now groups, worship, or recreation. These typically occur the Spring Semester months, if you would like to be on the BSM mailing list and receive information about each opportunity, send an email to dgriffin@etbu.edu and let us know.
