Life on the Hill

Baptist Student Ministry

Welcome to the BSM!

The ETBU Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) is where you can connect with other students and grow in your walk with God. Each week we offer an on-campus worship service, small groups, and opportunities for Christian service in the Marshall community. Additionally, we also provide a number of retreats, conferences, and mission trips throughout the year. Find out more below!

BSM Ministries

RESET

Join the BSM every other Wednesday for a free lunch, get to know a local church, and hear a devotional teaching with a round-table discussion! Located in Edwards Conference Room in Rogers Spiritual Life Center from noon to 1:00 p.m.

Community Group

Every Thursday from 7:00-9:00 p.m., BSM students gather to catch up over free coffee, dig deeper into discipleship study, and bring the Gospel to campus throughout the week. To learn more about getting involved, contact Shelby McNeal at smcneal@etbu.edu.

Campus Outreach

Do you have a burden to reach the campus for Christ? If so, you ought to consider joining our campus outreach ministry, as they meet and seek to engage the campus for this very purpose.

Fall Retreat

Each fall, the BSM hosts a weekend away to build fellowship and help devote ourselves to the Lord. We will enjoy Bible study, worship, hiking, fishing, canoeing, and more! This year's retreat will be held on September 11-12, 2026. Learn more and register at www.ETBU.edu/fallretreat. Questions? Email Shelby McNeal at smcneal@etbu.edu for more information.

BSM Missions

Kid's Club

We are looking for student leaders who have a heart for children and to see them grow in their knowledge of God's word. Lead a short play-and-learn Bible study with kids in a local Marshall apartment complex play area every Tuesday evening. (Earn service hours for participating.)

Beach Reach

Beach Reach is an annual Spring Break mission trip to South Padre Island. We give free van rides to islanders and college students on break, serve pancakes outside local restaurants at all hours of the night, and evangelize beachgoers to tell them about Christ.

Registration for Beach Reach 2027 will open in October 2026.

Serve Days

Each semester, the BSM hosts a Saturday "Serve Day" where ETBU students engage the community by serving in various ways at community ministries and through general community service. The purpose is to show God's endless, eternal love for our own community. Keep an eye on your ETBU email for more information.

Go Now Missions

As a ministry of the Texas Baptists, our students are able to engage in missions through Go Now Missions - our very own collegiate mission board. You will have the opportunity to serve down the street or around the globe for just a few days or an entire summer. Contact Shelby McNeal for more information (smcneal@etbu.edu) or go to www.gonowmissions.com.

Disciple Now Weekends

Join BSM students from across ETBU as we engage area youth groups by leading D-Now groups, worship, or recreation. These typically occur in the Spring semester. If you would like to be on the BSM mailing list and receive information about each opportunity, email Shelby McNeal at smcneal@etbu.edu.
