Housing Selection

Students at East Texas Baptist University who are under the age of 21 are required to live in campus housing unless they are living with a parent within commuting distance of the campus or are married. This applies to the fall and spring semesters only. Students may request commuter status through Housing Application located in the StarRez Housing Portal.

Reason to request to commuter status may include:

• Student wishes to live at home with their parent/ legal guardian. (Commuting distance must be within 60 miles of Marshall)
• Student is single between the ages of 21-23 and wishes to live off-campus without ETBU funded scholarships.
• Student is married or getting married on or before the first day of classes. (Married student housing is available in one of our University Park Row one-bedroom, one-bathroom units on a first-come, first-served basis.)
• Student has children or dependents that would not be eligible to live with the student on campus.

New and Transfer Student Housing Applications will be announced, in the StarRez Housing Portal. A link to the StarRez Housing Application will appear on your checklist in the Application Status Portal when you are eligible to apply for housing. This link includes all the information that you will need to log into StarRez and your student identification number, which is required to submit the form. Please check contact your admissions counselor for details on how to submit any missing items needed to sign up for housing. Your admissions counselor contact information is in your Application Status Portal.

Carlile Hall placement is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis according to the date you complete your Housing Application.

Housing Selection Processes:

University Park Row (UP), Foote Hall at Tiger Yard (Tiger Yard), and The Oaks on Grove (Oaks) Homestead Process; for students currently living in UP, Tiger Yard, or Oaks wanting to return for the 2024-2025 academic year. University Park Row, Foote Hall at Tiger Yard, and Oaks on Grove Homestead must be complete by March 6 by 11:59 PM.

University Park Row, Foote Hall at Tiger Yard, and The Oaks on Grove Non- Homestead Process; for students NOT currently living in UP, Tiger Yard, or Oaks wanting to live in one of these building for the 2024-2025 academic year. This is a drawing process and does not guarantee you a spot. University Park Row, Foote Hall at Tiger Yard, and Oaks on Grove Homestead must be complete by March 18 by 11:59 PM.

Homestead Process; for students currently living in UA, Ornelas, Mabee, Fry, or Linebery wanting to return for the 2024-2025 academic year. Homestead selection must be complete by March 28 by 11:59 PM.

Non-Homestead Process; for students wanting to choose their own roommates but are not participating in a homestead process. Non-Homestead must be complete by April 2 by 11:59 PM.

If you would like to be considered for housing in one of our University Park Row one-bedroom, one-bathroom units, please join the waitlist. University Park Row One-Bedroom Housing is not available through the housing selection process. University Park Row One-Bedroom Housing is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis according to the date added to the waitlist and your student status. Children or dependents of students are not allowed in student housing. Married students will have first priority, graduate students will have second priority, and undergraduate students may be eligible for University Park Row One-Bedroom Housing if space is available. University Park Row One-Bedroom Housing is typically assigned during the non-homestead portion of our housing selection process for the following academic year.
