Mrs. Hannah (Parks) Armendarez (‘16) earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing during her time on the Hill and later earned a graduate degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. After serving in the Cardiac ICU of Texas Children’s in Houston, Hannah went on to work as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She currently serves as the Director of Nurse Practitioners at a clinic in Mansfield, Texas. Hannah is married to fellow ETBU alumnus Matthew Armendarez (’14), who serves as a youth pastor at First Baptist Church in Burleson. Together, they are the proud parents of two wonderful children.

I first learned about ETBU while attending Super Summer camps on campus during high school.

Martha Dudley was the most amazing nursing professor. She would stay late, allow me to contact her outside of school to answer all of my questions while studying, and always provided amazing encouragement. Dr. Nandamudi was also amazing. I completed a summer course with him and traveled to Israel with a group from ETBU, which was an amazing experience.

Since graduation, Matt and I have stayed in touch with many of the friends we met in college. We see a few of them yearly, but stay in contact regularly through social media.

Reflecting on my time at ETBU, the first thing that comes to mind is learning how to be disciplined - whether that is studying for exams, or learning that your faith is your own. You also learn so much about yourself and the importance of friendships and relationships.

The perseverance, discipline, leadership, and encouragement I experienced from my professors and classmates are the traits I value the most. Those have stuck with me and helped me become a bedside nurse and pursue my master's.My advice to current students would be to find the balance between focusing on school and making memories. I encourage students to get involved - say yes to new adventures and exciting opportunities, and always have an open mind. You never know where God will take you, and His plans are so much better than ours!
