"When I began my coursework, I was relieved to discover that I was not at a disadvantage at all. In fact, I realized I received just as good of an education, if not better, because of the smaller class sizes and my professors' availability outside of class."
For Dr. Leah (Chiles) Grant ('05), ETBU was the perfect fit. The close-knit community and small class sizes provided Dr. Grant the environment she was looking for in a University.
"I grew up 45 minutes away from ETBU, but I had never heard of the school until my youth pastor mentioned it to me," Dr. Grant said. "Coming from a high school the size of ETBU appealed to me and it allowed me to be close to family."
According to Dr. Grant, she was a bit worried that she was at a disadvantage entering medical school because she graduated from a smaller institution, but was grateful for her preparedness for the rigors of medical study through the excellent education of the ETBU Science Department.
"When I began my coursework, I was relieved to discover that I was not at a disadvantage at all," Dr. Grant said. "In fact, I realized I received just as good of an education, if not better, because of the smaller class sizes and my professors' availability outside of class."
Today, Dr. Grants works as a urologist in Paris, Texas, and loves using her gifts to serve others through medicine.
"Being a physician is such a rewarding field," Dr. Grant said. "I enjoy being able to help people in their time of need, and I am grateful for the education I have received that allows me to succeed in this profession."
