Mrs. Hillary (Wicks) Jones (‘99) earned a degree in Nursing from East Texas Baptist and has been serving others ever since. She would also gain an MSN/MBA in 2006, and began serving in several leadership roles within multiple healthcare settings. Jones and her husband, Kevin, now have 2 beautiful children, Lana, a current ETBU student, and Parker, a junior in high school.

“God has definitely provided me with the strength, passion, and love that I have for my profession, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without Him.”

As soon as I stepped foot on the ETBU campus when I was a senior in high school, I knew that was where I wanted to go. The beautiful campus and the happy, friendly staff were exactly what I was looking for in my next adventure. The university campus remains just as beautiful, if not even more so, than when I attended.

Looking back, all of the nursing professors definitely helped shape the nurse I am today, and I can stay connected with other alumni through social media. I love watching them become parents and even some grandparents now.

I loved my time on the Hill! There are only fond memories, and I have definitely enjoyed reminiscing while touring the campus with my daughter, attending her orientation, moving her in, and visiting her on the weekends! The campus and people are still just as amazing!

My time on the Hill deepened my relationship with God and provided me with the strength and confidence to live out my faith while caring for patients. It allowed me to compassionately incorporate my beliefs, whether by praying with patients or sharing God’s word with those who already know Him.

For current and future Tigers, relish your time on the Hill because it will undoubtedly be a part of your life that you will love and enjoy looking back on. Use all the resources that the campus provides to help you achieve success in classes and your chosen field of work. ETBU hires the very best, and they truly have a passion for their students and God!
