Dr. Hyungju Edmond Cha is originally from South Korea. He went to New York City and earned a doctoral degree in economics from the Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY). Before coming to Texas, he taught economics at several institutions in New York City and New Jersey since 2012. In Texas, he has taught economics and statistics at a local College and served as a chairperson of Accounting and Hospitality Management and Tourism Administration. While he was serving as a chairperson of Accounting and Hospitality, he was the co-champion of the Academic Council of Business School and Program, (ACBSP).
Dr. Cha has three children, Luke, Elena, and Chloe, and lives with his wife, Lydia, and his mother, Ms. Lee. He spends most of his free time on home improvements or auto mechanics. Otherwise, he is focusing on his research interest, particularly, U.S. Monetary Policy, income inequality, and Chinese economy topics. He has published papers on these topics and is currently working on financial development and its effects and modeling a political decision-making mechanism for U.S. monetary policy.
