Dr. Treva Barham is an Assistant Professor of Counselor Education in the School of Natural and Social Sciences. Dr. Barham earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from East Texas Baptist University, a Master of Arts in Family Psychology from Hardin-Simmons University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education from the University of the Cumberlands. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and LPC Supervisor with extensive experience in counseling and higher education. Dr. Barham has worked in higher education for 21 years in various positions, including teaching. Dr. Barham's dissertation explored how rehabilitation archaeology may assist veterans transitioning from military service. Her counseling experience includes community mental health, a university counseling center, a private practice, a non-profit counseling center, and a medical clinic providing counseling services. Dr. Barham has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, aging adults, couples, families, veterans, first responders, those healing from trauma, and women with post-partum-related issues. As an ETBU Alumni, Dr. Barham is passionate about educating and equipping students as counselors in training to serve in their communities. She and her husband are raising four active boys and enjoy spending time on athletic fields and traveling together.
