Meet Dr. Douglas Lockard

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." Colossians 3:23

Dr. Douglas Lockard is Dean of the School of Communication and Performing Arts and Professor of Music at East Texas Baptist University. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Henderson State University, a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from the University of North Texas, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Texas at Austin. At ETBU, Dr. Lockard teaches private trumpet lessons, music history, jazz history, history of rock and roll, and music education courses. An active professional musician, Lockard performs with the Marshall Symphony Orchestra, the Longview Symphony Orchestra, and the ETBU Faculty Brass Quintet. He has appeared as a trumpet soloist with the Marshall Symphony, the Little Rock Wind Symphony, the ETBU Symphonic Band, and the East Texas Symphonic Band. As a clinician, Lockard has conducted numerous honor bands and jazz ensembles and presented trumpet masterclasses in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Prior to his appointment at ETBU, he taught at Ouachita Baptist University and served as a public-school band director in Arkansas and Texas. He and his wife, Rachel, are members of Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview.
