Meet Calvin Ruzicka

Calvin Ruzicka leads the defensive charge at ETBU. He brings knowledge from one of the top high school programs in Texas from Cedar Hill spending the last 17 years on their football staff becoming one of the dominant teams in 6A. Cedar Hill won Texas State Championships in 2006, 2013, 2014 and were state runners-up in 2012.

In his time at Cedar Hill, he has been a special teams coordinator, secondary coach, and freshmen head coach. In 2013, he was awarded the National Football Foundation 6A Assistant Coach of the Year award. He has helped over 250 student-athletes gain college scholarships while also serving as the campus academic coordinator. Helping in the community has also been a part of his job as the community relations coordinator. As a track coach, he has seen three regional team championships, was state runner-up in 2006, and coached a 4x100 relay team to second in state.

Prior to his time at Cedar Hill, he spent two years at Texas Christian Academy (Arlington, Texas) as head coach and Athletic Director, where he won a state championship in the Texas Christian Athletic League in 2000. He was 18-4 in two seasons while also winning the 1999 TCAL NW district championship.

He is a 1988 graduate of Texas State University with a Bachelor of Business Management and is married to Julie. They have two children; Darron and Mason, and two grandchildren; Caden and Brady.
