Meet Sydney Harvey

Coach Sydney Williams Harvey is in her first year coaching the men's and women's golf team after spending a year recruiting to start the golf program at East Texas Baptist University. Harvey, formerly Williams, married Shawn Harvey on July 28, 2018. 

Beginning her career at Melissa High School under head coach Tracy Jones, Harvey was a three time recipient of the First Team Class 2A All-State honor. Leading her team to back-to-back second place team finishes in the Class 2A Girls Texas State Tournament, individually she claimed first place in her senior season by winning the individual championship in a playoff. 
 
She then went on to play at Dallas Baptist University from 2012-2016. During her time at DBU, she received multiple accolades, including All-Heartland Conference First Team from 2013-2016, WGCA NCAA Division II Second Team All-American (2012-2013), WGCA NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All- American (2014-2015), WGCA NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-American (2015-2016),  Heartland Conference Freshman of the Year, and Heartland Conference All-Tournament Team.
 
Throughout her collegiate career, she posted 26 top-10 finishes, one top individual medalist honors and led DBU to a team victory at the DBU Classic after firing a 4- under, 140. She also set a school record by recording a string of five consecutive birdies on the final five holes of the DBU Classic and competed in two NCAA Division II National Championships. In addition she helped DBU win the Heartland Conference Championship as a junior in 2015. 
 
Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management, she remained with DBU as a student-assistant for the women's golf team. In December of 2016, she became a teaching professional at Prestonwood Country Club in Dallas, Texas, where she instructed individual and group lessons along with women's and junior clinics.
