Dr. Dalton Hicks serves as an Assistant Professor of Christian Ministry in the School of Christian Studies and Humanities. He earned his PhD in New Testament and Greek from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (2025). His dissertation work was in the field of New Testament Textual Criticism with an emphasis on the Book of Revelation (dissertation title: “An Exegetical Commentary on the Variant Readings in Revelation”). His research interests are in New Testament Textual Criticism, Paleography, Codicology, Koine Greek Grammar, New Testament Interpretation, Hermeneutics, Historical Exegesis, the Book of Revelation (textual history and history of interpretation), Greco-Roman History and Literature, and Social-Scientific Criticism.
Prior to coming to ETBU, Dr. Hicks worked at NOBTS as an adjunct faculty member in the Biblical Studies department. He also worked at the H. Milton Haggard Center for New Testament Textual Studies (CNTTS) as a researcher and senior project director. Additionally, he served in the local church in various Pastoral roles—primarily in Youth and Family Ministries. Outside the classroom, Dr. Hicks has a beautiful family including his wife, Shelby, and their three children. Overall, Dr. Hicks is passionate about helping students understand and fulfill their calling. God used many faithful professors to mentor and guide Dr. Hicks. He is humbled to have the same opportunity with students of his own.
