Meet Mr. Chris Smith

Mr. Chris Smith is the Assistant Professor of Worship Leadership at ETBU. Prior to this appointment, he was on faculty at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama where he taught guitar and music technology. In addition to this academic post, he was the Minister of Music and Youth at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, also in Birmingham. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelors of Music in Guitar Performance from Samford University, and a Masters in Music in Church Music, also from Samford. In 2016, he was inducted into the national music honor society, Pi Kappa Lambda. Having an active role in church music for over two decades; Chris has led worship for numerous churches, conferences, and retreats. He is also accomplished as a professional musician, and is continually in demand for studio recordings and other various performances. His music career has taken him across the United States and abroad. Chris is passionate about teaching music and worship, ensuring that the best is offered up to our God. He is married to Rachel Holland Smith, who is currently the music teacher at Spring Hill Intermediate School. Together they have one daughter, Summerlyn Grace.
