"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25, NIV
After relocating from Canada, Professor Arraf joined East Texas Baptist University as an Assistant Professor of Nursing in 2023. Drawing on over two decades of experience, she has worked as an adjunct clinical nursing instructor at the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University while keeping a position as a critical care nurse, first in the operating room and then transitioning into the recovery room.
Professor Arraf was born and raised in Calgary, Canada, attending the University of Calgary to obtain her Bachelor of Nursing degree in 2000 and her Master of Nursing degree in 2003. Commencing teaching in 2009, Professor Arraf has worked with baccalaureate, fast-track, and internationally trained nurses. She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) passionate about lifelong learning and holds a medical simulation, post-operative care, and operating room certification. Professor Arraf is pursuing her Ph.D. in Nursing Education Leadership at Liberty University and anticipates her candidacy in December 2023.
Professor Arraf's research interests include post-operative and palliative pain management, student nurse outcomes during preceptorship, and nursing ethics. Having written the NCLEX to relocate to the US, she is also interested in preparation strategies for NG-NCLEX success. Professor Arraf believes that any student who feels called to nursing can be a competent, safe, and successful registered nurse with hard work and support.
Professor Arraf's greatest joy in nursing has been her volunteer-medical experiences, where she has spent time sharing her skills and love of missionary work in developing countries, including Haiti and Guatemala. Her dream is to share the joy of missions work with her students and create a lifelong love of nursing as a service to others. Outside of nursing, Professor Arraf enjoys spending time with her husband and four children, playing golf and pickleball, and attending school and church events.
