Meet Dr. Lynette Vincent

"And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6 ESV

Dr. Lynette Vincent is an Associate Professor of Music Education and Coordinator of Music Education at East Texas Baptist University. She has experience teaching preschool and elementary music, children’s choirs, secondary choirs, private piano and voice, and undergraduate and graduate music education courses. She has taught in Texas public and private schools, in the National Music Conservatory in Amman, Jordan, and at the university level. She was a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas during her Ph.D. studies and was an Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of Minnesota Duluth from 2008-2010.

Dr. Vincent has a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of North Texas (2008), a Master of Music Education from Lamar University (1997), and a Bachelor of Music from Lamar University (1993). Additionally, she is a Kodály endorsed teacher, has three levels of Kodály training from the Kodály Institute of North Texas-based at UNT and SMU, and Orff Level I from SMU. Dr. Vincent has presented professional development sessions for East Texas teachers as well as conference sessions at the Minnesota Music Educators Convention, the Texas Music Educators Association Convention, and the Texas Choral Directors Association Conference. She oversees and is on the faculty of the Kodály training at ETBU.

A committed Christian and pedagogue, she is excited to help ETBU music students have the best possible preparation for their teaching careers and provide continuing education and professional development for music educators in the East Texas region. Dr. Vincent believes that a biblical worldview equips music educators to view the children in their classrooms as image-bearers of God who should all be treated with respect and grace and the field of music education as a means to honor God professionally. She lives in Lindale and is an active member of First Baptist Church Lindale.
