Dr. Jeremy Johnston has served East Texas Baptist University since 2019, currently as Vice President for External Relations. In this role, he brings extensive experience in higher education leadership, including his tenure as Vice President for Enrollment at ETBU from 2020 to 2026. Prior to joining ETBU, Dr. Johnston served at Dallas Baptist University as Director of Ministry Students and Assistant to the Vice President for Enrollment.
Before entering higher education, Dr. Johnston dedicated more than a decade to pastoral ministry, serving as Senior Pastor at Builders Baptist Church in Merkel, Texas, and Preston Highlands Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas — experiences that continue to shape his commitment to faith-centered leadership.
Dr. Johnston holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Theology, with minors in Business and Biblical Languages, and a Master of Arts in Religion, both from Hardin-Simmons University. He earned his Ph.D. in Leadership from Dallas Baptist University.
Driven by a passion for student development, Dr. Johnston is committed to helping students discern and pursue God's purpose and calling for their lives. He believes deeply in ETBU's mission to equip students for personal and professional flourishing through academic excellence, spiritual formation, and holistic growth.
