CECS Awards and Funding Opportunities

Faculty Awards & Funding Opportunities

Part of the CECS vision is to provide opportunities for faculty to examine what it means to create and participate in scholarship that embraces a Christian worldview without compromising in the pursuit of scientific truth and intellectual inquiry.  The Faculty awards and funding opportunities provided by the CECS provide ETBU faculty with recognition, support, and awards for their teaching and research. Awards and funding are offered throughout the year on a competitive basis. Depending on the award or funding, award selections  are made in conjunction with the CECS, University Provost, and various committees as appropriate. To learn more about awards and funding contact cecs@etbu.edu.

Funding Opportunities

Faculty Research Grants

A limited number of grants may be available for faculty research depending on budgetary constraints. The goal of these grants is to provide support for faculty involved in projects that would lead to presentations at professional meetings or publications in either books or professional journals. Those wishing to receive a grant should complete the proper forms and submit them to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Grants are generally awarded in amounts up to $1,000 at the beginning of the fall semester. Proposals need to clearly indicate a timeline. Multi-year requests need to be submitted each year for renewal.

Faculty Sabbatical

An academic sabbatical is for purpose of faculty research, reeducation, reschooling, and refreshment. It is not a vacation, but a period which the faculty member uses to grow professionally or to engage in unique activities which lend to their contribution to the University as a faculty member. Faculty members who qualify for the sabbatical program must have at least six years of service on the ETBU faculty, three years of which must have been at the rank of Associate Professor or above, and must have been recommended for a three year reappointment, or are currently a tenured faculty member. Faculty sabbaticals are available through petition and review on a case by case basis and only upon the availability of budgetary funding.

Submission Deadline: September 30 of the academic year preceding the proposed sabbatical.
