BGCT Ministry Scholarship

BGCT Ministry Scholarship for Undergraduate Students

The BGCT provides grants for qualifying students who are called to vocational church-related ministry and are Christian Ministry majors or minors or will complete at least 18 hours of coursework in courses offered through the religion department. Grants for the 2023-24 school year are currently $750/semester for full-time students. ETBU provides an additional $150 per semester for full-time students.

Essential Information for Undergraduate Students

Eligibility

  • Show evidence of a divine call to vocational or bi-vocational church-related ministry
  • Be a member of a Baptist Church (for renewal of BGCT portion, must attend a BGCT-cooperating church)
  • Demonstrate a lifestyle of commitment to the principles of the Christian life
  • Complete CHRM 1340 Calling and Practice of Ministry. Please note that you should enroll in CHRM 1340 during your first fall semester at ETBU.
  • Participate in one Ministry Guidance Event each semester while at ETBU.
  • Submit annually an application, church endorsement, and testimony of call.
  • Deadline to apply: September 1 for Fall, February 1 for Spring. *NOTE: scholarship will not be reflected on a student's bill until the complete application is submitted and approved.

How to apply

First year application process:

Step 1: Write out your testimony of your personal call to vocational or bi-vocational church-related ministry
Step 2: Complete the Online application (includes uploading testimony)
Step 3: Secure an endorsement from your home church using the BGCT 1st Year Certification Form
Step 4: Obtain a letter of recommendation from a pastor of your home church
Step 5: Send your church endorsement form and letter of recommendation to the Office of Ministry Guidance at ETBU by email, fax, mail or in person

Renewal application process:

Step 1: Update your testimony of your personal call to vocational or bi-vocational church-related ministry
Step 2: Complete the Online application (includes uploading updated testimony)
Step 3: Secure an endorsement from your local (school-year) church using the Renewal BGCT Church Certification Form
Step 4: Send your church endorsement form to the Office of Ministry Guidance at ETBU by email, mail or in person 

BGCT Ministry Scholarship for Graduate Students

The BGCT provides grants for qualifying students who are called to vocational or bi-vocational church-related ministry. Grants for students in the graduate program during the 2023-24 School year are $100/semester-hour. 

Essential Information for Graduate Students

Eligibility

  • Show evidence of a divine call to vocational or bi-vocational church-related ministry
  • Be a member of a Baptist Church (for renewal of BGCT portion, must attend a BGCT-cooperating church)
  • Demonstrate a lifestyle of commitment to the principles of the Christian life
  • Be working toward completion of a graduate degree at ETBU
  • Submit annually an application, church endorsement, and testimony of call
  • Deadline to apply: August 1 for Fall; December 1 for Spring; May 1 for Summer
  • Note: Scholarship will not be reflected on a student's bill until the completed application is submitted and approved.

BGCT Ministry Scholarship for CIM Students

The BGCT provides grants for qualifying students who are called to vocational or bi-vocational church-related ministry. Grants for the 2023-24 School year are $50/course

Essential Information for CIM Students

Eligibility

  • Show evidence of a divine call to vocational or bi-vocational church-related ministry
  • Be a member of a Baptist Church (for renewal of BGCT portion, must attend a BGCT-cooperating church)
  • Demonstrate a lifestyle of commitment to the principles of the Christian life
  • Submit annually an application, church endorsement, and testimony of call
  • Application must be completed and received prior to or during the first week of class in order for funds to be applied to the course. *NOTE: scholarship will not be reflected on a student's bill until the complete application is submitted and approved.
