Dr. Bruce Corley Endowed Chair of New Testament

Dr. Bruce Corley first conceived the idea for B. H. Carroll Theological Seminary in 1995 as changes in theological education and technology made it clear future students would pursue seminary education at a distance and through interactive platforms. At the seminary’s founding in 2004, Dr. Corley became the first president of B. H. Carroll, serving alongside three other colleagues who joined him in the endeavor. Under Dr. Corley’s leadership they pledged to provide theological education that was affordable, accessible, achievable, and accredited. The founders also formed the seminary as a hybrid of the American and British systems of higher learning. Dr. Corley was instrumental in gaining the seminary’s first certification and accreditations to offer degrees. The distributed education model implemented allowed the seminary to offer courses in “teaching churches” in the United States, and even in locations such as Cuba, Vietnam, Russia, and China. His sacrifice and faithfulness to God’s call on his life and ministry helped create a global seminary which continues to equip men and women called to serve Christ in the diverse and global ministries of the church.

The Opportunity

An endowment provides a visionary pathway for donors who seek to make a lasting impact, ensuring their gift benefits not just today’s students but countless future generations. Establishing an endowment to honor Dr. Corley’s service to B. H. Carroll would ensure that Dr. Corley’s name will forever be connected to B. H. Carroll and establishes a lasting legacy that offers longterm financial stability for B. H. Carroll Theological Seminary at East Texas Baptist University while also attracting outstanding Christian scholars.

More Than a Gift

An endowment is more than a gift; it’s an investment in the future of B. H. Carroll Theological Seminary at ETBU. The principal of the endowment is carefully invested, creating a perpetual source of income. Each year, a portion of the income generated is provided to the institution and the remaining income is reinvested, allowing the endowment to grow and continue making a greater impact over time.
