Sigma Tau Delta

Sigma Tau Deltathe international English honor society, works to cultivate the next generation of literary scholars, educators, writers, and leaders through transformative undergraduate and graduate experiences. Through this organization, students have the opportunity to publish their creative work and critical essays in the Sigma Tau Delta journals, The Sigma Tau Delta Review and The Rectangle.

Undergraduate Qualifications

To qualify, undergraduate students must do the following:

  • Complete a minimum of two college courses in English language or literature beyond the usual requirements in freshman English. 
  • Maintain a minimum of a B or equivalent average in English and in general scholarship,
  • Rank at least in the highest 35% percent of their class or have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.3
  • Complete at least three semesters or five quarters of college coursework.
Graduate or Post-baccalaureate Qualifications

Graduate or post-baccalaureate degree students matriculated in similarly qualified institutions are eligible for induction if they:

  • Have enrolled in a graduate program in English or one of its specializations
  • Have completed six semester hours of graduate work or the equivalent
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.3
