ETBU Holds UIL Math and Science Practice Meet

MARSHALL, Texas (3/04/16) – The Department of Mathematics at East Texas Baptist University hosted a UIL Math and Science practice meet on Saturday, February, 27, 2016. High school students competed in the areas of Number Sense, Calculator, Math, and Science. Eighty students from nine area high schools participated in the competition. 

“We appreciate the opportunity to host this practice meet and enjoyed having the best and brightest area high school students on our campus” said Dr. Marty Warren, ETBU Professor of Mathematics and coordinator for the practice meet.

ETBU Announces Louisiana Educational Advantage Program (LEAP)

MARSHALL, Texas (2/27/16) – Students from Louisiana are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship to attend East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas. ETBU President Dr. J. Blair Blackburn announced the creation of the Louisiana Educational Advantage Program (LEAP).  The program offers students from Louisiana a $1,000 scholarship to attend the Christian university for the 2016-2017 academic year. The LEAP program will provide $4,000 over four years to help a student from Louisiana to attend ETBU.

ETBU Students Organize Public Reading of the Entire Bible

MARSHALL, Texas (2/24/16) – East Texas Baptist University students in the The Worship of God class in the School of Communication and Performance Arts recently organized a public reading of the entire Bible on campus. Students, faculty, and staff volunteered 20 minutes at a time to read the Bible continuously for 24 hours a day. This public reading of the Scriptures started on Thursday, February 11, and concluded on Tuesday, February 16.

ETBU & Marshall High School Creating "Maverick University"

MARSHALL, Texas (2/16/16) - Officials with East Texas Baptist University and Marshall Independent School District, in partnership with the Marshall Educational Foundation announced on Thursday, Feb. 11, at Marshall High School the creation of "Maverick University." Beginning Fall 2016, ETBU will be offering nine dual credit college courses on the campus of MHS, which adds to the regular dual credit courses offered on the University campus.
