ETBU Professor Cole Franklin receives IPDA Coach of the Year Award

Dr. Cole Franklin received the International Public Debate Association (IPDA) 2019 Bennett Strange Coach of the Year Award at the IPDA National Championship Tournament and Convention on Tuesday, April 17 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Determined by a vote of all university programs attending the national tournament, the Coach of the Year award is presented to a debate director annually and honors the coach for his or her dedication to students, mentoring, debate education and pedagogy, and service to the association and debate community.

ETBU recognized as the sixth-ranked Registered Nurse program in Texas

East Texas Baptist University has been recognized by the Annual RegisteredNursing.org Registered Nurse (RN) Program State Rankings as the sixth-ranked RN Program in Texas out of 119 programs evaluated and 50 ranked. Since 2015, ETBU nurses have achieved 100 percent pass rates on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and received job offers within three months of degree completion.

ETBU shows CARE for Craig Hall to honor the legacy of Dr. Robert E. “Jack” Craig

East Texas Baptist University intends to renovate Craig Hall for use by ETBU’s largest academic school, the Frank S. Groner School of Professional Studies, through the CARE (Commitment to Academic Resources for Excellence) for Craig Hall campaign. The facility is named in honor of Dr. Robert E. “Jack” Craig (’50), who led ETBU from 1986-1992 as the University’s tenth President. His commitment to providing students and faculty with quality academic facilities and the resources necessary to serve Christ with excellence was evident in his leadership as President.

ETBU celebrates continuous growing enrollment for the Spring 2019 semester

East Texas Baptist University has a total Spring 2019 enrollment of 1,398 students, an almost two percent increase from Spring 2018. Graduate enrollment has grown more than four percent from Fall 2018.  The University maintains a high undergraduate student retention rate of 88 percent. The University’s collaborative student learning-centered, retention initiatives have led to a unified and strengthened campus community for an overall enriched Christ-centered college experience for all students.

ETBU begins accepting the Classic Learning Test on enrollment applications

East Texas Baptist University recently partnered with Classic Learning Initiatives (CLI) and joined the CLT College Network to begin accepting the Classic Learning Test (CLT) scores submitted by prospective students as a college admissions score. ETBU and CLI share a mission to provide students from diverse educational backgrounds with the best opportunity to succeed in the college admissions process.
