MNM: East Texas Baptist's Criminal Justice program in Marshall Unique in State

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (8/1/15) - East Texas Baptist University's four-year criminal justice /law enforcement program is the only of its kind in the state, and several of its students and instructors are headed to the mountains of Colorado this weekend to strengthen their skills.

The university's Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, and Law Enforcement William Griffith is accompanying 11 criminal justice students and two other professors for a nine-day rendezvous in the mountains, beginning today.

MNM: Campers Invade ETBU To Hone Debate Skills

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (7/18/15) - Domestic surveillance by the government in the U.S. is a hot topic of late, so it was no surprise it turned up on the list of topics to be debated on Friday during the annual Texas Speech and Debate Camp at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.

More than 200 high school students from across the state spent the week at the university honing their debate skills or learning the craft for the first time.

ETBU Business Students Attend Class Down Under

MARSHALL, Texas (6/30/15) - When you think of Australia, kangaroos, koala bears, or Crocodile Dundee might come to mind. For 14 East Texas Baptist University students from the Fred Hale School of Business, they actually experienced "down under" while participating in a travel study class during May Term.

The students spent two weeks in the Brisbane area and were accompanied by ETBU Associate Professor of Management Dr. Kathleen Mays. Australia was the perfect setting for Dr. Mays to teach two classes, International Business and International Marketing.

England Visited by 12 ETBU Students

MARSHALL, Texas (6/29/15) - The travel study program of East Texas Baptist University provided opportunities for students to learn in 10 different countries this year. This past May ETBU students went to Australia, Austria, China, Ecuador, England, Ethiopia, Germany, Israel, Peru, and Zambia.  

The 12 ETBU students who went to England with Associate Professor of English, Dr. Troy White, found themselves visiting the actual sites described in the books they read for his Victorian Literature and the English Setting class.

ETBU Students Experience Life In Africa

MARSHALL, Texas (6/24/15) - Two separate groups of students from East Texas Baptist University traveled to Africa during May with the same purpose in mind. The students who went to Ethiopia had a goal to learn about Cross Cultural leadership within mission work. The nursing students who went to Zambia for 21 days also went to learn and serve as they were involved in a combined nursing course and mission trip. The two abroad trips were part of the ongoing Travel/Study program of ETBU.
