B. H. Carroll Theological Seminary Receives First Endowed Scholarship Through the Estate of Dr. Jimmie Nelson

B. H. Carroll Theological Seminary at East Texas Baptist University is honored to announce the establishment of its first endowed scholarship, made possible through a generous estate gift from longtime Texas Baptist pastor, educator, and friend of the seminary, Dr. Jimmie Nelson. The Dr. Jimmie Nelson Endowed Scholarship will support students enrolled in Carroll’s Ph.D. program, continuing Dr. Nelson’s lifelong investment in ministerial education.

ETBU receives $25,000 to establish Super 1 Foods Endowed Scholarship

East Texas Baptist University recently received $25,000 from Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC) to establish an endowed scholarship program. BGC announced the establishment of the “Focus on the Future” scholarship program in partnership with East Texas Baptist University and more than 40 other universities and colleges in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. The program is designed to reward students in BGC’s market areas for their dedication, hard work, and outstanding academic achievements.

ETBU Students Receive Polly Cargill Nursing Scholarship

A crowd gathered at the Marshall Grand last week to celebrate and honor the generosity of a community and distinguish six local students who seek to impact the medical industry through a future career in nursing. Three East Texas Baptist University students were presented with the Polly Cargill Nursing Scholarship on behalf of the Cargill family and CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Foundation. ETBU’s Joshua Hartley, Colby Simmons, and Stacie Simmons received the scholarship during the reception held at the newly opened Marshall Grand.

ETBU students recognized for Christian servant leadership

East Texas Baptist University acknowledged two students on Monday, October 30 for their outstanding service to the campus and community. Seniors Austin Damron of Lake Jackson and Harleigh Parrish of Huntington were awarded the Bob and Gayle Riley Servant Leadership Award during a special chapel service focused on servant leadership. Dr. Bob Riley, ETBU President Emeritus, and his wife, former First Lady Gayle Riley, presented the students with a replica of the "Divine Servant" statue, created by Max Greiner, that stands outside of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center.
