ETBU Awards Over $1.5 million In Scholarships to Harrison County Students

MARSHALL, Texas (6/3/15) -  East Texas Baptist University has awarded over $1.5 million in scholarships to Harrison county high school graduates.  A total of 28 students from Hallsville High School, Harleton High School, Marshall High School, Texas Early College High School, and Waskom High School with one home schooled student will be attending ETBU in the Fall.
 
ETBU awarded over $778,000 in scholarships to 15 Marshall High graduates. MHS seniors who received scholarships are Kelly Bird, Raegan Cotton, Karent Machuca, Kaitlyn Matlock, Jayton McKnight, Anna Nesbitt, Tayler Patterson, Dylan Read, Jasmine Rios, Trevor Rogers, Jhaenniece Rasberry, Destiny Ratcliff, Alyssa Roberson, Darby Shankle, and Jesse Wright. 
 
A total of six students from Harleton High received over $350,000 in scholarships. The HHS students are Payton Alexander, Jacob Earle, Joseph Earle, John O'Dell, Taylor Pyland, and Zachary Shepherd.
 
Evan Hill, Dionte Johnson, Sean McMaster, and Wyatt Wolverton of Hallsville High received over $210,000 in scholarships. 
 
Texas Early College High School graduate Sarah Johnson and home schooled Gabriel Alonzo received a total of $155,000 to attend ETBU. 
 
"As their Admissions Counselor, it has been my privilege getting to know each student individually. Given the long and outstanding partnership with Harrison County schools, it brings me great pleasure to see these young men and women continue their education locally at East Texas Baptist University," said Amanda Harmon, ETBU Admissions Counselor for the local area.
 
ETBU awarded various amounts to the future Tigers that included Academic and Christian Leadership Scholarships. The scholarship amount represents the total four year award. For the 2015-2016 academic year, ETBU will award over $10.2 million in scholarships to students.
