A group of 32 ETBU students, faculty, and staff visit the Western Wall of the Herodian Temple in the Old City of Jerusalem. The ETBU School of Christian Studies traveled to Israel as a part of the Global Study and Serve Program this May.

ETBU students follow Jesus’ footsteps in Israel

The East Texas Baptist University School of Christian Studies traveled to Israel as a part of the Global Study and Serve Program on Monday, May 13 through Saturday, May 25. Students earned credit for either Introduction to Old Testament, taught by Assistant Provost and Associate Professor of Religion and Leadership Emily Prevost, or Lands and Cities of Israel, taught by Dean of the School of Christian Studies John Harris. Led by ETBU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Thomas Sanders, the group of 32 students, faculty, and staff walked where Jesus walked.

The 2019 ETBU Debate Team celebrates with their Coach, Dr. Cole Franklin. He received the International Public Debate Association (IPDA) 2019 Bennett Strange Coach of the Year Award at the IPDA National Championship Tournament and Convention.

ETBU Professor Cole Franklin receives IPDA Coach of the Year Award

Dr. Cole Franklin received the International Public Debate Association (IPDA) 2019 Bennett Strange Coach of the Year Award at the IPDA National Championship Tournament and Convention on Tuesday, April 17 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Determined by a vote of all university programs attending the national tournament, the Coach of the Year award is presented to a debate director annually and honors the coach for his or her dedication to students, mentoring, debate education and pedagogy, and service to the association and debate community.

ETBU recognized as the sixth-ranked Registered Nurse program in Texas

East Texas Baptist University has been recognized by the Annual RegisteredNursing.org Registered Nurse (RN) Program State Rankings as the sixth-ranked RN Program in Texas out of 119 programs evaluated and 50 ranked. Since 2015, ETBU nurses have achieved 100 percent pass rates on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and received job offers within three months of degree completion.
