ETBU set to open new University Park row-style apartments

Some East Texas Baptist University students will be moving into new digs in the coming weeks, thanks to the university's opening its newly built University Park row houses on Van Zandt Street.

"These are for our upperclassmen, sophomores and up, our graduate students and our married couples," ETBU President Blair Blackburn said Tuesday. "They are townhouse style apartments that are built in the East Coast colonial style attached row houses."

ETBU steps up to the plate to build a Home for Champions

East Texas Baptist University has launched the Domus Victorium-Solus Christus...a Home for Champions-For Christ Alone campaign, which encompasses the building of a dedicated 3,000 square foot athletic clubhouse for ETBU Tiger Softball, featuring a locker room for 32 student-athletes, coaches' offices, and a lounge for team study, fellowship, and discipleship. In addition to the clubhouse, ETBU has upgraded Taylor Field with artificial turf field and a new padded outfield wall for enhanced player safety.

ETBU awards Hispanic Servant Leadership Scholarships

East Texas Baptist University awarded four students, two male and two female, the ETBU Hispanic Christian Servant Leadership Scholarship for the 2017-2018 academic year. This scholarship program is a partnership between ETBU and the Hispanic Baptist Convention of Texas. These scholarships cover 50 percent of the recipients' tuition and full room and board throughout the student's undergraduate degree.

ETBU Rec Teams impact youth for the glory of God

East Texas Baptist University Rec Teams, consisting of six ETBU college students on each of the three teams, traveled to serve over 8,500 junior high and high school students at various youth camps throughout the summer in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Colorado. Each team served for eight weeks, beginning in June and continuing through August. ETBU students were prepared for both the light and heavyhearted aspects of working with youth, passionate about carrying their burdens and being a source of encouragement.

ETBU second Texas college to offer acrobatics, tumbling team

East Texas Baptist University became the second college in Texas and the 20th college in the nation to offer competitive team acrobatics and tumbling to its athletic program for students.

Beginning its season during the 2018-19 school year, the ETBU Acrobatics and Tumbling Team will consist of 18 to 30 female students who excel in strength, flexibility, balance, and power.
