ETBU offers School of Christian Ministries Scholarship

Current and future East Texas Baptist University students, who have earned a bachelor's degree from ETBU, are called to full-time ministry, and are active members at Texas Baptists (BGCT) churches, will be provided a full-tuition graduate scholarship to the ETBU School of Christian Studies. The University has developed the scholarship program to encourage and equip students, who are considering or preparing for a call to vocational Christian ministry.

ETBU celebrates 500 years of Reformation

East Texas Baptist University will host Here I Stand, a series of events held in honor of the anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his theses to the door of the Castle Church. Sola Scriptura: A Bible Exhibition will be on display in the Jarrett Library on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning Monday, October 23 through Wednesday, November 1. The display will feature three Bibles including the Coverdale Bible (1535), the Geneva Bible (1610), and the King James Authorized Version (1611). The exhibition also contained copies of the Foxe's Book of Martyrs (1563), The Whole Works of W.

ETBU Lets the “Good Times Roar” during Homecoming 2017

East Texas Baptist University invited generations of alumni from the College of Marshall (COM), East Texas Baptist College (ETBC), and East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) back to the Hill to celebrate past and present traditions during Homecoming weekend on October 13 through October 15. For more than 100 years of reunions, the Tiger Family has celebrated the tradition of Homecoming to reminisce and create new memories with current students and alumni.

ETBU provides relief for Hurricane Harvey victims

East Texas Baptist University sent more than 40 students, faculty, and staff to Southeast Texas to partner with First Baptist Church - Nederland, Texas Baptist Men, and Baptist Men of North Carolina in the disaster relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Harvey. The team left on Wednesday, October 4 and returned Sunday, October 8, spending their days working to repair homes in the area.

ETBU Theatre performs The Christians

East Texas Baptist University's Theatre Department transformed Baker Chapel in the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center through their opening performance of the semester, The Christians by Lucas Hnath, on September 28 through October 1. According to Director Traci Ledford, the department achieved a milestone as they were granted the rights to the play, which only debuted in 2014 in Kentucky and has since been produced by major regional theatres. Ledford was drawn to the honest, desperate characters who were written as fully-realized and three-dimensional Christians.
