ETBU Senior Faith Harris Directs Student Production of Future, Here

For Faith Harris, theatre has always been a place of belonging, creativity, and growth. Now a senior theatre arts education major at East Texas Baptist University, Harris is stepping into a new role this semester as a student director.

Harris will complete her coursework this spring before beginning student teaching in the fall. As part of her preparation for teaching theatre in the classroom, she is directing a student production, an experience that has invited her to see both the art form and her own leadership in a new way.

ETBU’s School of Communication and Performing Arts presents “The Women of Lockerbie”

The School of Communication and Performing Arts at East Texas Baptist University invites you to enjoy an evening of poetic drama with “The Women of Lockerbie.” There will be two weekends of shows, October 17-19 and October 24-26, in Jenna Guest Music Building’s Black Box Theatre. The first weekend aligns with ETBU Homecoming, so students and alumni are encouraged to bring their families and friends to enjoy the play.

ETBU Students Examine What the Church Is Really Singing

Students in East Texas Baptist University’s Worship Music course recently completed a comprehensive research project examining the content of the most-sung worship songs in churches across the country. By analyzing the Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) Top 100 songs for fall 2024, students explored what theological themes are shaping congregational worship today.

ETBU Installs Lambda Iota Chapter of National Music Honor Society, Pi Kappa Lambda

East Texas Baptist University celebrated a historic milestone with the installation of the Lambda Iota Chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda, a national music honor society, within the Department of Music and Theatre Arts. The charter installation and induction ceremony took place on Monday, April 7, in Mabee Recital Hall in the Jenna Guest Music Building.

The Lambda Iota Chapter was officially authorized by Regent James C. Scott, Past President of Pi Kappa Lambda (2002–2006), of the Alpha Alpha Chapter at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.

ETBU’s School of Communication and Performing Arts Presents “Selections From Gilbert and Sullivan Operas”

The School of Communication and Performing Arts at East Texas Baptist University invites you to enjoy an evening of classic operatic comedy and song with “Selections From Gilbert and Sullivan Operas,” running November 14-17. Students from the Opera Workshop course will perform selected scenes from three of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most beloved operas: The Mikado, Pirates of Penzance, and H.M.S. Pinafore.
