177 graduates conferred during ETBU’s Spring 2023 Commencement

East Texas Baptist University presented 177 graduates with degrees during its commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 6, in Baker Chapel of the Rogers Spiritual Life Center. ETBU President J. Blair Blackburn presided over the ceremony as 149 students received undergraduate degrees and 28 received graduate degrees. The worship ceremony featured Scripture readings, praise and worship through song, prayers, and blessings over the graduates, including words from Dr. Blackburn reminding those in attendance of the University’s Christ-centered mission.

Curtain closes on ETBU Spring 2023 theatre season with Working: The Musical

The ETBU Department of Music and Theatre Arts ended the spring theatre season with the production of Working: The Musical, a thought-provoking and inspiring look at the real essential American workers, live on stage April 20-23 in Mabee Recital Hall at Jenna Guest Music Building on ETBU's campus. The show was directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Natalie Wilson assisted by Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Andrew Wilson, and choreographed by ETBU senior theatre arts education major Amy Hobbs.

ETBU hosts Great Opening Ceremony of The Great Commission Center

East Texas Baptist University welcomed generous donors and friends of the institution in celebration of the opening of the newly-constructed Great Commission Center during a ceremony held Friday, April 28. The new home to the Fred Hale School of Business, Career Development Office, and Great Commission Center program, the Great Commission Center will be a center for academic learning and discipleship training.

ETBU students receive awards for academic excellence

East Texas Baptist University recognized the academic achievements of outstanding Tiger students at the annual Honors Chapel awards ceremony on April 26. Students who were inducted into various honor societies, as well as those who received Academic Excellence Awards, were applauded for their accomplishments. Academic Excellence Awards are given to students from different academic departments who are recognized by their respective faculty for their Christian character, scholarly accomplishments, servant leadership, and active involvement in ETBU campus life.
