Made New Initiative Breathes New Life into Dorm Room Donations at ETBU

As East Texas Baptist University students packed up their dorm rooms at the close of the semester, a new initiative invited them to give with purpose. Made New, a service project launched by students in the Service-Learning and Humanities class in partnership with the student organization Amigos Unidos, turned cast-off belongings into blessings for the broader East Texas community.

School of Christian Studies and Humanities Academic Conference

The School of Christian Studies and Humanities recently held a small academic conference sponsored by Phi Alpha Theta, Sigma Tau Delta and Theta Alpha Kappa. The idea for this conference was first conceived as an opportunity for students to gain experience presenting academic work in an environment that is encouraging and familiar. Although the conference is on a very small scale, it is designed to introduce students to the structure and format they might encounter at a large conference.

East Texas Baptist University hosted the second annual Lyceum, a forum for Christian thinkers, writers, and scholars, on Monday, September 30, in the Woods Great Room of the Ornelas Student Center. This free, public event, organized by the School of Christian Studies and Humanities, welcomed attendees to engage in a thought-provoking evening centered on the intersection of faith and scholarship.

ETBU School of Christian Studies and Humanities hosts inaugural Lyceum forum

East Texas Baptist University’s School of Christian Studies and Humanities hosted the inaugural Lyceum: Forum for Christian Thinkers, Writers, and Scholars on Monday, October 9, in the Woods Great Room in the Ornelas Student Center. The new academic forum on ETBU’s campus, set to take place each fall semester, is designed to provide students, faculty and staff, and the local community an opportunity to hear from a prominent Christian scholar whose work is presented and discussed in the context of Christian humanities.
