For the third time in University history, an East Texas Baptist University Baseball player has been selected in the Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft. Joining the ranks of Tim Brown (1980, New York Mets) and Tyler Bates (2016, Los Angeles Angels), Casey Combs was picked as #801 in the twenty-seventh round by the Miami Marlins. Combs was the fourth NCAA Division III athlete chosen in the draft and only one of nine overall.

East Texas Baptist University received an Outstanding Project Award for excellence in educational facility design in the Fall 2018 edition of Learning by Design, the premier source for education design innovation and excellence. East Texas Baptist University’s Taylor Field was named by Turface Athletics as 2018 NFCA Field of the Year in NCAA Division III. Selected by the NFCA Awards Committee, the top fields and stadiums in the nation are recognized for their exceptional playing surfaces and grounds maintenance.

East Texas Baptist University became the second college in Texas and the 20th college in the nation to offer competitive team acrobatics and tumbling to its athletic program for students.

Beginning its season during the 2018-19 school year, the ETBU Acrobatics and Tumbling Team will consist of 18 to 30 female students who excel in strength, flexibility, balance, and power.

Earning his fourth All-American award for play, East Texas Baptist University baseball player Conner Combs has been named to the ABCA All-American second team. This is the second straight season being named an ABCA All-American. Earlier this week he was named a D3baseball.com All-American which was his second from that organization.
