Student Government Association Application
SGA Qualifications
- Be a full-time undergraduate student at East Texas Baptist University
- Maintain a Grade Point Average of 2.5 or higher.
- Be in good standing with the University, i.e. not on academic or disciplinary probation.
- Meet the classification requirements for the position for which you are running.
SGA General Requirements
- Attend weekly SGA meetings on Mondays from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
- Serve a weekly office hour.
- Attend and help set up for SGA special events such as Fall Formal, Miss ETBU, as well as Coffee and Conversations.
- In addition, officers must attend weekly Executive Council meetings at a mutually agreed upon time and meet individually with the SGA Advisor each week.
Position Specific Requirements
Senators
- Class Senators must be a member of the class corresponding to the seat for which they are running. This is based on number of course hours completed and how long they have been enrolled as a full-time undergraduate.
- Senator at Large positions are open to students of any classification.
President and Vice President
- Be a member of the incoming junior or senior class.
- Have previously served in SGA for at least two academic semesters.
- Reside in University Housing
Secretary and Treasurer
- Be a member of the incoming sophomore, junior, or senior class.
- Have previously served in SGA for at least two academic semesters.
- Reside in University Housing
