East Texas Baptist University Reflects on a Rich Tradition of See You at the Pole Gatherings

East Texas Baptist University participated in the nationally recognized See You at the Pole event on Wednesday, September 27. The special tradition on campus was coordinated by ETBU's Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) as a way for students, faculty, and staff to join the three million students in the United States and over 20 countries around the world in prayer at their school’s flagpole.

East Texas Baptist University students partner with Redemption Church in New York City

East Texas Baptist University sent three Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) students to New York City from Tuesday, May 7, through Sunday, May 14, for mission work throughout the city. The group of students and ETBU Director of Baptist Student Ministry David Griffin partnered with Redemption Church in Red Hook and pastor Edwin Pacheco.

Once considered the “Crack Capital” of the United States, Red Hook is a densely populated community with a long history of poverty, crime, and brokenness within its walls.

East Texas Baptist University students minister at Beach Reach during spring break

East Texas Baptist University sent 26 Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) student leaders to South Padre Island, Texas, from Saturday, March 11, through Friday, March 17, 2023, as part of Beach Reach. Joining 1,017 other "Beach Reachers" from around the region, the students served 18,737 pancakes, gave 17,765 safe rides, had 9,670 gospel conversations, and prayed with 7,229 people, according to Texas Baptists (BGCT). Over the two weeks, the Beach Reach mission efforts resulted in 183 salvations, 91 recommitments to Christ, and 49 baptisms on the beach.

Annual See You at the Pole event brings ETBU community together in prayer

East Texas Baptist University students, faculty, and staff gathered on Wednesday, September 28, for the annual See You at the Pole event, a global day of student-led prayer. The tradition that started in 1990 at a high school in Burleson, Texas, has since grown to see upwards of three million students in the United States and over 20 countries gather to pray at their school’s flagpole.

A group of East Texas Baptist University Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) student leaders spent their spring break at South Padre Island, Texas, from March 4 through March 11 as a part of Beach Reach, an annual evangelism initiative to share the hope of Jesus by providing free food and transportation to college student beach visitors.
