A new sport will break into the East Texas area as East Texas Baptist University announces the addition of men’s lacrosse as a varsity club sport for the 2020-21 season, and the 22nd sport for Tiger Athletics. This will be the sixth new sport added at ETBU in the last four years joining men’s and women’s golf, hockey, bass fishing, and acrobatics and tumbling.  The Tiger Lacrosse program will focus on transforming young men’s lives, building their faith and character, and helping them excel in life, while fielding a competitive team on the field. 

East Texas Baptist University students, faculty, and staff gathered in the Quad in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 25, for the annual See You at the Pole event, a global day of prayer. The tradition started in 1990 at a high school in Burleson, Texas, and has since grown to see upwards of three million students in the United States and over 20 countries assemble to pray at their school’s flagpole.

East Texas Baptist University welcomed Tiger Families to the Hill for a weekend full of community and fellowship on Friday, September 20 and Saturday, September 21. Family members of ETBU students were on campus for social activities, community service, and Tiger Football.

East Texas Baptist University welcomed Dr. Eric Black, publisher, editor, and executive director of the Baptist Standard, to campus on Monday, September 16. Dr. Black delivered an inspiring message through his testimony during chapel that touched the lives of students, faculty, and staff.

Two East Texas Baptist University students, sophomore Alana Goodson and senior Leovardo Sanchez, have been selected to receive scholarships provided by the Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas (ICUT) Foundation and its national partner, the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC).
