East Texas Baptist University held its annual Convocation chapel service on Wednesday, August 30, where students, faculty, and staff gather in Baker Chapel for a time of worship and commitment for the 2023-2024 academic year.

East Texas Baptist University celebrates record enrollment in Fall 2023 with 1,833 students, the highest total in the institution's 111-year history. Total enrollment increased 3.5% over Fall 2022, and the University’s total enrollment has exceeded 1,700 students in three of the last four fall terms.

East Texas Baptist University held its annual Church Day on Wednesday, August 16. Hosted by ETBU’s Office of Spiritual Life, the event takes place the first week of class each fall in an effort to introduce students to area churches. This year, representatives from more than 30 local churches set up booths and tables in the University’s Quad to offer free t-shirts, snacks, and promotional items, and share information about the heart of their ministries.

The 2023-2024 academic year is off to an exciting start at East Texas Baptist University. After a summer spent working, traveling, and serving, students arrived to the Hill at ETBU for August Mini-Term classes, Move-In Day, Tiger Camp, and the official start of the Fall 2023 semester on August 14.

East Texas Baptist University was recently named to Phi Theta Kappa’s 2023 Transfer Honor Roll. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), an honor society for two-year colleges, recognizes the importance of institutional commitment and investment of resources to support transfer students. The PTK Transfer Honor Roll acknowledges excellence and success in transfer pathway development.
