ETBU Alum Martino Enjoys Coaching Div. I Baseball Team

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (7/12/15) - Bo (Martino) knows baseball. In fact, he knows it so well that he decided to make a career of it as he's now the pitching coach at Stephen F. Austin State University.

That probably doesn't come as a surprise to most people who knew him growing up however. The Marshall native grew up around the game. His dad, Joe Martino, is a former baseball coach himself.

SUMMER LEAGUE: ETBU's Combs Named NYCBL Player of Week

MARSHALL, Texas (07/10/2015) - Taking the East Texas Baptist University baseball brand to New York, Conner Combs had a great week for the Niagara Power of the New York Collegiate Baseball League. From the week of June 29th, Combs was named the NYCBL Player of the Week.

In that week Combs batted .625 with an .813 slugging percentage bringing in four RBI. He had a .684 on base percentage with three doubles going 10-of-16 in four games played. His contributions helped the Power with 11 of their 33 runs scored that week.

ETBU's Thompson, Price Voted ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes

AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE: RICHARDSON, Texas (6/15/15) - East Texas Baptist University has earned two more American Southwest Conference awards as Erby Thompson and Landon Price are distinguished scholar-athlete award winners. Both athletes were voted as the top scholar-athlete in their perspective sport.

Thompson earns the award for the first time for the men's basketball team as the co-ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete. There were eight other players to choose from and Thompson tied with Texas Dallas' Matthew Medell.

ETBU's Larzabal Earns ASC Community Service Award

ASC: RICHARDSON, Texas (6/10/15) - Gaining one of the top awards in the American Southwest Conference is Nic Larzabal. Larzabal was named a tri-winner of the ASC Community Service award.  It is the third time that a male athlete from ETBU has won the award.

Larzabal, who ran cross country and was a student assistant coach in tennis, was a four-year letterman for ETBU.  He graduated in May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Sociology.
