ETBU Calling Conference Inspires Tomorrow's Ministry Leaders

East Texas Baptist University hosted its annual Calling Conference on Wednesday, October 18, for students called to vocational ministry. The conference gives students the opportunity to learn from current ministers serving in various ministry fields as they discuss the call on their own lives and how that calling is informing their current ministries.

ETBU School of Christian Studies and Humanities hosts inaugural Lyceum forum

East Texas Baptist University’s School of Christian Studies and Humanities hosted the inaugural Lyceum: Forum for Christian Thinkers, Writers, and Scholars on Monday, October 9, in the Woods Great Room in the Ornelas Student Center. The new academic forum on ETBU’s campus, set to take place each fall semester, is designed to provide students, faculty and staff, and the local community an opportunity to hear from a prominent Christian scholar whose work is presented and discussed in the context of Christian humanities.

Avery Abshier and Abraham Contreras honored by ETBU with Riley Servant Leadership Awards

East Texas Baptist University celebrated the dedication and service of two students during a special chapel service on October 4. Seniors Avery Abshier and Abraham Contreras were awarded the Bob and Gayle Riley Servant Leadership Award. This honor, presented by ETBU President Emeritus Bob Riley and his wife, Gayle, includes a replica of the renowned "Divine Servant" statue by Max Greiner, which was given to ETBU by Dr. and Mrs. Riley in 2009 and is displayed at ETBU's Rogers Spiritual Life Center.
