ETBU students spend Spring Break on a mission

East Texas Baptist University students spent their Spring Break serving others with the love of Christ in a jungle of Belize, St. Tammany Parish of Louisiana, and on South Padre Island in Texas. 
 
Ten ETBU students led by Dr. Lisa Seeley, Director of Global Education and the Great Commission Center, recovered water wells and shared the good news of Jesus Christ in Otoxha, Belize, a remote jungle village without electricity or running water.

ETBU Tigers name Highsmith new head football coach

Staying within the current football family, East Texas Baptist University announced the hiring of Scott Highsmith as the next head coach.

He becomes the fifth head coach since the program was restarted in 2000 and replaces Scotty Walden who left for an NCAA Division I position.

Marshall woman Jean Birmingham given ETBU service award

Retired Marshall ISD school teacher Jean Birmingham received the Sam B. Hall Civic Service Award from East Texas Baptist University during the annual Sam B. Hall dinner and lecture series.

Birmingham served as a business teacher at Marshall ISD for 36 years and was also active in the city of Marshall as an entrepreneur and city activist.

Birmingham was presented the award on Tuesday at the university by former Harrison County Judge Richard Anderson.
