ETBU Admissions invites prospective students to experience campus life

April 12, 2018

East Texas Baptist University hosted more than 1,000 prospective students on campus for preview events during the Spring 2018 semester. Each event consists of an organization fair, an academic showcase, informational sessions, a student panel, and campus tours. Preview events, designed to provide a comprehensive perspective of life at ETBU, offer opportunities to meet with current students, faculty and staff, admissions counselors, and financial aid and academic advisors.
"ETBU is here to equip students for the call that God has placed on their life through a Christ-centered education," ETBU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Thomas Sanders said. "The faculty and staff at our institution are passionate about investing in every student's academic and spiritual development. Students who choose to be a Tiger will find quality programs, full support, and genuine community."

Following a Campus Life Exposition with organizations such as Student Government Association, Texas Nursing Student Association, and Baptist Student Ministries represented, prospective students choose one of 15 fields of study to learn more about during an Academic Showcase. In addition, Tiger Talk sessions covering scholarships, financial aid options, and admissions processes are offered.

"I heard about ETBU from my sister, Shelli Simmons, who is currently attending as a sophomore Business major. I decided to come to Tiger Day, because the University has always seemed to have a welcoming environment," Hallsville High School junior Joel Simmons shared. "I enjoyed the Academic Showcase for Music. My primary motivation to attend ETBU so far is the programs conveniently offered. I would be able to remain in Marshall and become actively involved in my community."

Current Tigers facilitate a Student Life Panel to allow visiting students and their families to ask questions. Each student discusses why they chose to attend the University, how they have been involved on campus and in the community, and give advice to prospective students. Following the panel, the Admissions Staff lead groups on campus tours.

"When students visit campus, my prayer is that God works in their hearts to provide guidance and comfort," ETBU Freshman Admissions Counselor Brashay Gross expressed. "As an alumna, it is rewarding to tell students about the University that God used to change my life. From the education earned to the lifelong friendships developed, your relationship with Christ will be strengthened here. ETBU is a place to call home."

New Student Registration (NSO) events are scheduled for Saturday, May 5, Monday, June 4, and Monday, June 18. To learn more about visiting the campus or applying to ETBU, visit the admissions page.
