ETBU in Marshall Takes Burdens to the Cross with New On-campus Prayer Ministry

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (11/7/15) - East Texas Baptist University is taking everything to the foot of the Cross with its new on-campus intercessory prayer ministry.

"God answers prayer. When I first became president, I challenged the faculty, staff and trustees to join together in prayer," ETBU President Blair Blackburn said. "I invited them to begin praying for 40 days and we as a university family read Mark Batterson's book 'Draw the Circle, The 40 Day Prayer Challenge.'" 

Blackburn said the staff took the 40-day prayer journey together, running June 1 to July 10.

ETBU To Host Fourth Annual Tiger Invitational Debate Tournament

MARSHALL, Texas (11/11/15) - The East Texas Baptist University Debate Team will host the fourth annual Tiger Invitational Debate Tournament, Nov. 13-14. The team will welcome as many as 150 college debaters and their coaches to the campus for the weekend competition. Participants from colleges and universities in a six-state region will make up the field of competition, with the possibility of more.

#TIGERSWIN: ASC Champions!!!

FOOTBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (11/7/15) - A championship chapter was written on Saturday in the Josh Eargle era as he coached the East Texas Baptist University football team to their first American Southwest Conference championship since 2003. With a 27-21 victory over #8 Hardin-Simmons University (8-1, 3-1), ETBU is now guaranteed a share of the ASC championship as they move to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Prospective Students Check Out ETBU at Tiger Day Festivities

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (11/8/15) - Jacksonville sophomore Hannah Milstead was impressed with her first visit to a college campus on Saturday while touring East Texas Baptist University during the institution's Tiger Day. 

"They have an emphasis on mission and have a very Christ-centered worldview," Hannah said on Saturday. "It's pretty impressive. They're very active here in student mission and it's been exciting touring the campus today."
