ETBU Athletes Honored This Week

SOFTBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (2/10/16) - East Texas Baptist University softball players Jayme Perez and Lacey Lindsey have earned pre-season awards from HeroSports being named All-Americans to start the 2016 season. Perez has been selected to the first team as a designated player and Lindsey on the second team at first base.

Both players are two-time NFCA All-Americans in their first two seasons at ETBU. Last year they both were NFCA All-American second-team selections while Lacey was the co-Offensive Player of the Year in the ASC. Below are the bios from HeroSports.com

PEREZ
As a sophomore Jayme Perez started all 41 games for East Texas Baptist last season, most as the Designated Player. She totaled 44 hits, hitting .373 with 11 home runs. Perez was named first team All-West Region and ranked in the top 50 in the nation with a .771 slugging percentage.

LINDSEY
East Texas Baptist first baseman Lacey Lindsey blasted 16 home runs during her sophomore season to lead all American Southwest Conference players, and rank third nationally. She posted a .381 average on the season, along with a .467 on-base percentage and .873 slugging percentage. Her 55 runs batted in led the team and tied her for 11th nationally. Defensively, Lindsey played a perfect first-base, without a single error in 209 fielding opportunities, and earned honors as ASC 2015 Co-Player of the Year.

Quillian is the ASC East Player of the Week

ASC: MARSHALL, Texas (2/9/16) - For the third straight week in a row an East Texas Baptist University men's basketball player has earned the American Southwest Conference East Division Player of the Week as Jordan Quillian is given the award. Bret Atkins won the award the previous two weeks.

Earning his first award of the year, Quillian averaged 14.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game with ETBU winning all three of its games. He shot 64.0 percent from the field (16-of-25) and 80.0 percent at the foul line (12-of-15).

On Feb. 1 against Louisiana College, Quillian finished with a team-high 18 points. Two days later against the University of Texas-Tyler, he chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds. To close out the week, Quillian contributed 16 points and nine rebounds on Feb. 6 against LeTourneau (Texas) University.

For the season, Quillian averages 9.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game and shoots 54.0 percent from the floor.
