ETBU fishing team gives back to the community

Sharing their love of fishing, the East Texas Baptist University bass fishing team recently helped with the annual "Fishing for the Future" event held at Pirkey Power Plant in Hallsville.

This event is hosted by the Harrison County Game Wardens, AEP/SWEPCO, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and Texas A&M Forestry.

The event had about 150 special needs students and adults from East Texas school districts and the ARC of Harrison County. ETBU's bass fishing team helped the students bait their hooks and reel in fish.

ETBU honors former Tiger at Arbor Day observance

East Texas Baptist University celebrated the 2018 Arbor Day on Thursday, April 26 by planting three Live Oak trees in memory of the late ETBU graduate ('05), Tiger Baseball player James Morgan, who lost his life at the age of 29 in an airplane crash in 2012. Nearly 60 students gathered to reflect on Scripture, pray, and plant trees. ETBU Student Body President Reid Adams read the story of creation from Genesis 1:1-13, and senior Dylan Sumpter prayed over the campus, community, and world.
