Former ETBU board member, educator remembered for service in church, community

A sweet, devout Christian woman and an unforgettable educator is how those who knew and loved Joy Howell, wife of local oil and gas businessman Rusty Howell, remembered her.

"Mrs. Howell was a very sweet lady. I thought the world of her," said Glen Bickerdike, who served on the East Texas Baptist University board of directors with Howell.

"There was no doubt where she stood in her faith," Bickerdike said. "She was the type person that you enjoyed being around. She always had a smile on her face.

ETBU steps up to the plate to build a Home for Champions

East Texas Baptist University has launched the Domus Victorium-Solus Christus...a Home for Champions-For Christ Alone campaign, which encompasses the building of a dedicated 3,000 square foot athletic clubhouse for ETBU Tiger Softball, featuring a locker room for 32 student-athletes, coaches' offices, and a lounge for team study, fellowship, and discipleship. In addition to the clubhouse, ETBU has upgraded Taylor Field with artificial turf field and a new padded outfield wall for enhanced player safety.

ETBU Launches Campaign to Move School of Nursing to Downtown Marshall

The ETBU School of Nursing is relocating to the historic Marshall Grand in downtown Marshall. Since 1992, ETBU has been equipping nurses with knowledge, professional skills, and compassion. ETBU Nurses have consistently achieved high pass rates on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and 100% of recent 2016 and 2017 East Texas Baptist Nursing School graduates received job offers upon degree completion.
