Lady Tiger Softball Opens NCAA Regional Play

SOFTBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (5/13/16) – Making their 10th appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, and fourth straight, East Texas Baptist University has an exciting but tough road ahead of them starting in Tyler, Texas, on Friday. ETBU is a part of a four-team regional tournament played at Texas-Tyler and is the #3 seed.

ETBU Awards 149 Degrees During Spring Commencement

MARSHALL, Texas (5/11/16) – East Texas Baptist University held Spring Commencement in two sessions on Saturday, May 2, 2015 in Baker Chapel of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center.  ETBU President Dr. J. Blair Blackburn presided over the ceremonies. A total of 149 students received degrees, 132 bachelor’s degrees and 17 master’s degrees.

Lady Tigers Headed to Tyler for NCAA Regional Tournament

SOFTBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (5/9/16) – Making their 10th appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament, the #8 East Texas Baptist University softball team will be playing in Tyler, Texas, on May 13-15 in a four-team tournament. ETBU will play #5 Texas Lutheran University at 1:00 p.m. on Friday in the first game.

#3 Texas-Tyler will be the host of the tournament and will face Agnes Scott in the second game on Friday at 4:00 p.m. There will be three games on Saturday with two elimination games and then the championship game on Sunday and the ‘if necessary’ game after that.

ETBU Graduates Say They've Grown Spiritually While Learning

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (5/8/16) - East Texas Baptist University graduate Hoyce Mitchell said Saturday that he will always be thankful for his time at the Marshall university where he honed his basketball skills, earned an education and grew in his walk with God.

"ETBU helped me grow as a person, spiritually, physically and emotionally," Mitchell said Saturday. "Earning my degree makes me feel good because that's one more accomplishment, one more step in my life."

Mitchell now hopes to move on to the pro-basketball circuit, starting overseas first.
