Lady Tigers Headed to Tyler for NCAA Regional Tournament

SOFTBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (5/9/16) – Making their 10th appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament, the #8 East Texas Baptist University softball team will be playing in Tyler, Texas, on May 13-15 in a four-team tournament. ETBU will play #5 Texas Lutheran University at 1:00 p.m. on Friday in the first game.

#3 Texas-Tyler will be the host of the tournament and will face Agnes Scott in the second game on Friday at 4:00 p.m. There will be three games on Saturday with two elimination games and then the championship game on Sunday and the ‘if necessary’ game after that.

ETBU enters with a 34-8 overall record as the automatic qualifier from the American Southwest Conference tournament. This is their 10th NCAA Tournament and fourth straight in Tyler, Texas. ETBU has faced Texas Lutheran in the past two years, too, in Tyler. Texas Lutheran received an automatic bid by winning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and has a 41-3 record. Host Texas-Tyler is 39-4 overall and received an at-large bid to the tournament. They will face the Agnes Scott (10-27) of the Great South Athletic Conference who won their tournament for the automatic berth.

The winner of the tournament advances to the Super Regional round and will play the winner of the other West Regional Tournament which includes Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, George Fox, Whitworth, and Linfield.
